a second art fight piece i did for @kadoozhtheguy but didn’t post at the time
i’ve got that damn konbini song stuck in my head again for the first time in about 12 years!!
it’s pretty interesting though, since the last time i heard it was so long ago that i knew basically nothing about japanese. it’s not every day you get to have such a direct sensation of “wow i’ve come so far” when it comes to learning i guess, haha
also, kinda like anything that was translated by some random person 15 years ago, the translation used in the subbed versions of all those animation memes is a little questionable… it misses out on some humor in the original and also has some completely changed lines.
i wrote some notable lines cuz i was bored, so let’s take a look!
i’m going to post my thoughts on the constructed language i used in my previous couple posts (link 1 and link 2).
however, i’m not going to explicitly name it since i think this post is overall going to be very critical and i don’t think it makes much sense for it to show up in a search or tag search, especially since it’s mostly just personal musings and not something i want other people to take especially seriously.
my interest in toki pona is waning so i might as well post these couple other song translations i did
again, dunno if they’re really that good, but i don’t think toki pona really clicks with me
also like last time, these should more or less match the number of syllables so they should be singable to the original tune (though with pauses in the middle of words sometimes)
the line breaks here also don’t always correspond to the original lines, but what makes the sentences easier to read
transcriptions after read more:
toki pona translation of “Roll Me In” from Katamari Damacy, written in sitelen pona (i didn’t really use any of the Advanced Features tho)
it’s probably not very good at being toki pona cuz i don’t think it meshes with my brain well
i think this should fit the number of syllables exactly, so you can sing it along to the song (though sometimes there are pauses in the middle of words). i already forgot though

I made a ROM hack for Gimmick! that makes jumping way easier.
There are many situations where it feels like your jump input gets eaten, so I fixed that! Jumping feels way more consistent now.
Gimmick! is a really charming game with a great soundtrack. If you haven’t played it before, now’s as good of a time as any!
A more detailed explanation of the hack follows.
